Topology

Falcon 4118 comes with two PCIe switches inside. Each switch is equipped with 8 PCIe 4.0 x8 slots and 1 PCIe 4.0 x16 low profile slots- 8 single width slots are dedicated to PCIe devices while the low-profile slots could be configured as either device ports or host ports

There are two configuration modes of Falcon 4118 including standard mode and advanced mode. Configuration is unchangeable under standard mode, but changeable with two low-profile slots under advanced mode as each low-profile slot could be configured as one x16 port, two x8 ports, four x4 ports or combined.

The following are some common configurations of Falcon 4118 to start with.

1. Standard mode with two x16 host

Each host could access 8 PCIe devices and one low profile slot (under the same PCIe switch).


2.Advanced mode with four x8 hosts

Each host port is configured into two x8 host ports. Each host can access up to 9 PCIe devices.(under the same PCIe switch)



3. Advanced mode with four x16 hosts

The low-profile slots are configured into host ports. Each host could access 8 PCIe devices (under the same PCIe switch).


4. Advanced mode with eight x4 hosts

Each host port are configured into four x4 host ports. Each host could access up to 9 PCIe device. (under the same PCIe switch)


5. Advanced mode with eight x8 hosts

The low-profile slots are all configured into host ports. Each host port is configured into two x8 host ports. And each host could access 8 PCIe devices.



6. Advanced mode with sixteen x4 hosts

The low-profile slots are all configured into host port. Each host port is configured into four x4 host ports. And each host could access four GPUs.
