Delivering you a Better Enterprise - PCIe Gen 5 Composable Solution
Learn more about the future-proof composable infrastructure with the three keywords: Speed, Scale, and Flexibility.
NVMe, a new generation of high-speed storage interface, has higher bandwidth and lower latency than the traditional SATA interface. NVMe Multi-Root IO Virtualization technology (NVMe MR-IOV) further scales up the NVMe resources to realize mass storage sharing and virtualization by allowing multiple virtual machines to visit the same pool of NVMe devices at the same time.
Such technology relies on hardware and software support. The
hardware side needs the NVMe controller (Virtual Function) to support Multi-Root Port (MRP) functionality
interconnected with the PCIe switch. As for the software, it requires the host
operating systems and NVMe driver to support MR-IOV functionality and realize
the virtualization of the NVMe driver in the Virtual Machine Management (VMM).\
There are many applications NVMe MR-IOV can have, for example:
1. Cloud computation: MR-IOV can enhance the high performance and
low latency of NVMe storage in the cloud computing environment, which can also
improve the application's performance, lowering the TCO of cloud
infrastructure.
2. Big data and Analytics: MR-IOV can be used in big data and
analytic applications to allow more rapid access to the data on the NVMe SSD.
NVMe MR-IOV can improve the performance of data processing and analysis, saving
time for insight from a massive data set.
3. Virtualization: MR-IOV can be used to improve the performance of
the virtualized environment, such as VDI and Virtualized server. By enabling
multiple virtualized servers direct visit the NVMe storage, MR-IOV can help
lower the storage-related latency, heightening the overall performance of the
virtualization environment.
4. High-Performance computation: MR-IOV can be used in HPC, allowing faster access to the data on NVMe, which optimize the scientific simulation, computational fluid dynamics, and other speedy storage access needed tasks.
H3's PCIe Gen 5 NVMe MR-IOV solution is to launch, combining with the PCIe Gen 5 hardware platform to heighten the resource utilization rate of data centers. The TCO will be lowered with better performance and flexibility in the virtualization environment.
