TAIPEI, Taiwan, October 17, 2024 - H3 Platform, a leader in next-generation composable solutions, announced significant progress in its collaboration with Intel, Xconn, and AIC to advance Compute Express Link (CXL) 2.0 technology. These companies jointly develop and validate the Virtual CXL Switch (VCS) mode using Intel’s Sierra Forest server (manufactured by AIC) and Xconn’s CXL 2.0 switch, alongside H3 Platform’s innovative CXL Memory Sharing Solution.
VCS mode is a revolutionary technology poised to transform data center architecture. It enables servers to access downstream memory, significantly improving memory management and providing more precise event notifications. This technology helps data centers manage memory resources more effectively, dynamically adjusting to different application scenarios, allowing the CXL host to better control downstream devices.
In addition to enhancing performance for memory-intensive workloads like in-memory databases, AI, and real-time analytics, VCS mode also enables efficient dynamic memory sharing and pooling between systems. While full validation of VCS mode is still in development, the initial progress on Intel’s Sierra Forest server, built by AIC and integrated with Xconn’s CXL 2.0 switch, marks a key step forward in pushing the boundaries of memory disaggregation and high-performance computing.
"AIC is proud to be at the forefront of innovation in memory disaggregation alongside our partners,” said Michael Liang, Chairman and CEO of AIC. “By combining Intel’s Sierra Forest platform with H3 Platform’s CXL technology, we are setting new standards for high-performance computing solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers."
“We are excited to collaborate with Intel to bring innovative CXL solutions to market,” said Brian Pan, CEO at H3 Platform. “The successful validation of VCS mode not only demonstrates the capabilities of our CXL Memory Sharing Solution but also opens new possibilities for future innovations in memory disaggregation and resource optimization.”
H3 Platform, Intel, Xconn, and AIC are working closely to further enhance the capabilities of CXL technology. Future developments are expected to be announced in the coming months.
