Topology

Falcon 4109 comes with single PCIe switch inside, equipped with 8 PCIe 4.0 x8 slots and. There is an extra double-width FHFL slot could be configured as either device ports or host ports

There are two configuration modes of Falcon 4109 including standard mode and advanced mode. Configuration is unchangeable under standard mode, but changeable with the extra double width slots under advanced mode as each low-profile slot could be configured as one x16 port, two x8 ports, four x4 ports or combined.

The following are some common configurations of Falcon 4109 to start with.

1. Standard mode with one x16 host

One host could use all PCIe devices in the chassis with up to 9 devices.


2. Advanced mode with two x8 hosts

The host port is configured into two x8 host ports. The hosts could access up to 9 devices.


3. Advanced mode with two x16 hosts

The extra double-width slot is configured as a x16 host port. The hosts could access 8 devices.


4. Advanced mode with four x4 hosts

The host port is configured into four x4 host ports. The hosts could access up to 9 devices.


5. Advanced mode with four x8 hosts

The extra double-width slot and host slot are configured into x8 host ports. The hosts could access 8 devices.



6. Advanced mode with eight x4 hosts

The extra double-width slot and host slot are configured into x4 host ports. The hosts could access 8 devices.
